Keeping yourself accountable

Who has time anymore to workout? Between work, coming home for dinner, making sure the kids have their homework done (or their summer activities during the day), chores, laundry, getting the kids to bed on time, and trying to have just a couple minutes to yourself, REALLY, who has time?

I try to be in the office by 7 am for my normal job, sometimes it just doesn’t happen that way, but that’s what I shoot for. I’m a night owl. I regularly stay up till midnight. I’ve heard it said many times that you’re less likely to complete a workout program or exercise regimen if you workout in the evening. That may be true for many people. For me, it works best to get my exercise in during the evening time. I usually get home no later than 5:30 and we usually eat dinner some time soon after. I allow myself at least an hour for the food to settle and usually end up working out when my daughters go to bed at 8:30. After that, it’s time for a shower, and a little bit of time to wind down before bed.

There ARE times, however, where I ate too much, or I was hurting for one reason or another and felt it was in my best interest to not workout. Luckily, I’ve been working out for so long now, I REALLY chide myself if I end up skipping my workout, so I try to keep those occurrences as minimal as possible.

Today starts a “no excuses”, 90 day run. Beachbody has put up a challenge to everyone. As per their slogan, “Decide. Commit. Succeed.”, the Challenge is formatted under that same belief. The really great thing is, Beachbody makes it SO EASY to keep yourself accountable while working out.

I’ve mentioned in previous posts that I have developed some really great relationships through this business. I currently have FOUR accountability partners for this span of time. I’m also sure I’ll have a few jumping on board for the duration as well. One of those accountability partners and I have agreed to post daily videos after we workout so we know we’re holding each other accountable. Another person will actually be working out with me twice a week. A third will be checking in with me via phone call once a week (that would be MY coach). There are all kinds of ways to keep yourself on track with an accountability partner.

There’s also the option to join a local fit club. Beachbody has many different options in this regard. You can simply go to the Team Beachbody home page and search the “Fit Club finder” for your local area. In there, you’ll be able to search by zip code and find one close to you. What are fit clubs? It’s generally a group workout, using one of the Beachbody workout programs and, usually, it’s FREE! Were you wanting to try that one you just saw on an infomercial last week and were unsure if you were going to be able to do the actual workout? Join us at a fit club and try it out before you decide to purchase it! This is another great place to make some friends and find new accountability partners, as well.

In addition to that, the Beachbody website has a few methods as well. I had mentioned some of them in a previous post, but I’ll briefly mention them here again. The WOWY Supergym allows you to log your workout on a daily basis. Did you miss one? That’s ok, just pick up where you left off. Haven’t registered for the Beachbody Challenge yet? Just click here to register! Don’t have your own free account or a coach yet? I’ll gladly help you with that, too! Register for your free account here. You WANT to do this, because I’m about to tell you the absolute BEST way to hold yourself accountable to working out each day.

From August 1st to November 30th, 2011, Beachbody is holding a daily drawing for those who enter their workouts into the WOWY Supergym. It’s really simple to do! The winner of that daily drawing will win $500 cash! I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been anywhere else that they offered to pay me to workout. It just doesn’t happen!

So, you’ve got a few options on what you can do to keep yourself motivated. Feel free to contact me, leave a comment, or email me (the little envelope over there on the right next to the social media links), and I’ll gladly answer any questions you may have!
